Our team has extensive command, operational, and strategic experience from the Kenya Defence Forces spanning over 36 years each. This collective blend of practical experience, academic knowledge, and deep regional immersion ensures our advice and solutions are relevant, effective, and sustainable. Brig (Rtd) David McOkech
Brig. McOkech is a retired senior officer with over 30 years of experience in the Kenya Defence Forces, specialising in logistics, audit oversight, and strategic leadership. He served as Chief of Logistics and Chief of Audit at Defence Headquarters, and previously commanded the Kenya Army Electrical & Mechanical Engineering Corps.
Internationally, he held senior logistics roles with UNMEE and AMISOM. A graduate of the National Defence College and holder of degrees in Peace and Conflict Studies and International Relations,
Brig. McOkech plays a key role at Njiwa Africa in advancing institutional efficiency, governance, and operational support.

Brig (Rtd) Maroa Gati
Brig. Maroa is a retired senior officer with over 37 years of service in the Kenya Defence Forces, where he held key leadership roles including Chief of Personnel at Defence Headquarters and Commandant of both the Defence Memorial Hospital and Recruit Training School.
He holds a master’s degree in security and strategic studies from the National Defence College, Tanzania, and is a graduate of the Defence Staff College. He brings deep expertise in security governance, crisis management, and human capital development.
A veteran of multiple UN peacekeeping missions, he offers extensive experience in international security operations and post-conflict reconstruction.

Brig (Rtd) Willy Wesonga
Brig. Wesonga is a retired senior military officer with over 30 years of distinguished service in the Kenya Army. A strategic leader and security expert, he has held key command and staff roles including Chief Provost at Defence Headquarters, and Senior Directing Staff at the National Defence College.
He brings extensive experience in defence planning, peace support operations, and international security cooperation.
With academic credentials in international studies and strategic planning, he plays a critical role in shaping Njiwa Africa’s security and intelligence advisory services.

Brig (Rtd) Dr Mwasi Mwanyika PhD
Brig (Rtd) Dr Mwanyika is a seasoned defence and peacebuilding expert with over 37 years of service in the Kenya Defence Forces. He has held key leadership roles in command, procurement, training, and international peace support operations. His experience includes senior appointments with the United Nations in New York, South Sudan, Sierra Leone, and the former Yugoslavia, as well as directing the Centre for Security and Strategic Studies at NDU-K.

A recognised expert in peace mediation, DDR, SSR, and ceasefire processes, he has been part of the Nairobi Peace Process supporting dialogue in eastern DRC since 2022. Brig Mwanyika holds a PhD in Peace and Conflict Studies, along with multiple postgraduate degrees in defence, strategy, and sustainable peace from institutions in Kenya, the UK, and Costa Rica.
At Njiwa Africa, he leads advisory on peace processes, mediation, and security sector reform.
